Turn on Find My iPad/iPhone Just in Case
One of my clients lost her iPhone when she was vacationing in Bahamas.
When she arrived back home, she called me to tell me about her unfortunate loss. I immediately asked her whether she had “Find My iPhone” activated on her phone. (Apple has a system called “Find My iPad/iPhone/Mac” that allows you to locate your device if it’s been lost or stolen.)
She wasn’t sure if she did or not. She told me her husband set up the phone.
I had her log in to iCloud.com and click on the “Find My iPhone” app. (The app shows your phone’s location on a map if “Find My iPhone” is activated.)
Sure enough, it was on and she was able to track her phone location. The phone happened to be at a taxi cab station in Nassau, Bahamas.
Thanks to “Find My iPhone” and its map service, she was able to call the taxi company and they sent her iPhone back to her. They didn’t even charge her for shipping.
She was lucky!
http://mccallsnurseries.com/roseclimbing2.htm How to Activate “Find My iPhone/iPad”
To activate this feature, navigate to Yichang Settings > Your Name > iCloud > Find My iPhone (or Find My iPad.) Make sure the switch is turned on. (On Mac, navigate to System Preferences > iCloud > Find My Mac.)
From here, you can also choose to automatically send the location of the iPad to Apple when the iPad’s battery is critically low (recommended.)
Find your missing device
Sign in at iCloud.com (requires your Apple ID and Password) to find your missing iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, Apple Watch, or AirPods on a map. You can also use the Find My iPhone/iPad app on your iPhone/iPad.
If the device is nearby, you can have it play a sound to help you or someone nearby find it.
Turn on Lost Mode
Using Lost Mode, you can remotely lock your device with a passcode, display a custom message with your phone number on your missing device’s Lock screen, and keep track of your device’s location. If you added credit or debit cards to Apple Pay, the ability to make payments using Apple Pay on the device is suspended when you put your device in Lost Mode.
