Is Bitcoin divisible? Can I purchase a fraction of one Bitcoin?
🙋🏽 Hey Dave…”Is Bitcoin divisible? Can I purchase a fraction of one Bitcoin?”
Yes, Bitcoin is divisible to 8 decimal points. A satoshi (sat) is the smallest unit of a bitcoin, equivalent to 100 millionth of a bitcoin.
You may have heard of the phrase “collecting sats”. This refers to the act of purchasing and holding on to bitcoin fractions.
Bitcoins can be split into smaller units to ease and facilitate smaller transactions. You can purchase satoshi fractals instead of one whole Bitcoin. The satoshi was named after the founder, or founders, of bitcoin, known as Satoshi Nakamoto.
As always, do your own research before buying any cryptocurrency.
