Apple released iOS 7.1.2 update for your iOS devices. This update contains bug fixes and security updates, but contains no feature enhancements. That said, it is always recommended that you install security updates on your devices.
Apple states that 967 MB of storage is required to install iOS 7.1.2. If you don’t have enough storage on your device, you will need to make room by deleting items (ex: photos, movies, files, or unwanted apps).
Users can download iOS 7.1.2 over the air by going to Settings > General > Software Update and tapping Download and Install. You can also update your device through iTunes.
I always strongly encourage you to backup your device first before installing iOS updates. You can backup to iCloud or to your computer using iTunes.
Don’t forget to plug in your device to a power source before installing the update. It is critical that your battery does NOT fully discharge when running an iOS update (you’ll most likely lose all your data — No Joke!).
If you need help backing up your device to either iCloud or your computer via iTunes, or need help making room on your device, please contact me for assistance.
If interested, you can find out more about the contents and security of the 7.1.2 update on Apple’s Support website and security page.
